Paratrooper in German is "Fallschirmjäger". Fallschirmjägers were a special branch of the German Army during World War II trained to parachute into combat zones and perform airborne operations. They played a significant role in the early parts of WWII, including the invasion of Denmark and Norway, the Battle of Crete, and the invasion of the Soviet Union. The Fallschirmjägers were highly trained and well equipped, with specialized weapons and equipment such as the FG-42 automatic rifle and the Knochenschürze body armor. They were known for their bravery and fighting skills, often being placed in the toughest combat situations. Many famous German commanders, such as Rommel and von Thoma, started their military careers as Fallschirmjägers. After the war, Fallschirmjäger units were disbanded but reformed in the modern German Army as Airborne Forces.
